Yeah, I know.
This is like the 4th time I’ve brought this blog “back”… It was hosted on blogger, once. Had just my name, at one time, and it was once …
Not too bad. Looking forward to it!
I left work a bit early today. Wasn’t the first, not by a mile. I’m writing this from the BART train whisking me back to suburbia, while trying to gather my thoughts.
Thought 1: think, then write. Oh, well.
The weekend should be a good one. The 4th is my favorite holiday of the year, and I work at a place founded by apparently like-minded folks, so we get two days off instead of the customary one. Saturday will include a parade, some grilled meats, beer, wine, maybe cigars, probably some assorted red-white-and-blueness, and, even if only on TV, fireworks.
But for all that to happen, Saturday has to actually arrive.
Between now and then, there’s plenty to be done. Side work for a friend that continues to linger on from my while-unemployed period; unpacking the house, or what I like to call “Phase III of The Move;” potentially some other randomized necessities, plucked from the hat. We’ll see.
Even busy, a 4-day weekend is a good thing, and I will enjoy it.
Looking forward to turning that bedside alarm of, I can tell you that.
Yeah, I know.
This is like the 4th time I’ve brought this blog “back”… It was hosted on blogger, once. Had just my name, at one time, and it was once called {nerd:novel;}. Now, it’s Miscellany.
I’m going to point out things I think are awesome on the web… Like Alex Blagg’s awesome sense of humor, or Dewey Hammond’s nearly-sociopathic (in a good way) use of footnotes.
I’ll talk about cool new stuff I’m doing, either at work or for my little side projects, like this historical(ly-recent) record of temps in my town. Do you know how hard it is to find out what temperature it was?
I’ll post music I like, and mention what goes down on TV shows I watch. I’ll gab about wine and gossip about politics.
The usual, I suppose. Come along if you like.
The blog is back.
Need to go through 700+ old posts and categorize them, and choose some for “featured” status. And figure out what to do with those “advertising” boxes…
I was just reading the LOLcode 1.2 spec and laughing, predictably, out loud. There is a PHP-based parser that I will probably have to start playing with. After I knock out a couple simple Rails apps to get the feel of Ruby, of course.
